If you go back and read any books about trading from the 40s or even further the psychology is always there, it just didn't become its own science really until the publishing of Jack Schwager's Market Wizards. A trader's job is to be smarter than the market. He converts a mess of analysis and intuition into simple bets. He works with individual traders, proprietary trading firms and hedge funds. Now think of what a trader does. The reader sees that profitable trading is a process and that there's no need to get emotional or discouraged about the results of a single trade as long as you are staying true to a winning game plan. Otherwise, you won't learn anything that's relevant for yourself. Discipline, a clear strategy, and a concise plan, the speculator will fall into all the emotional pitfalls of the market – jump from one stock to another, hold a losing position too long, and cut out of a winner too soon, for no reason other than fear of losing profit.
